if running macOS El Capitan, Sierra, High Sierra or Mojave. You should use Kext Utility, Kext Wizard etc. You need to install kexts to /Library/Extensions folder if running macOS El Capitan or newer. Kext Wizard has two separate options that do the same but you need to know to select the second repair and rebuild option after installing a kext. Kext Utility being the better of the two applications, as it will repair permissions and rebild the kernel cache as part of the installation.

You should use Kext Utility, Kext Wizard or a similar old school kext installer application. You need to install kexts to /System/Library/Extensions but only if running OS X Yosemite or earlier.

I repeat NEVER copy and Paste to either of these locations. Never Copy & Paste a kext to either /Library/Extensions or /System/Library/Extensions, that is probably the quickest and surest way to bork your system. The best place of them is either /Library/Extensions folder or keep them in your /Clover/kexts/Other folder. Since the release of El Capitan third party kexts are no longer installed to /System/Library/Extensions.
